About Marian
Marian was a New York-based studio art jewelry designer and instructor at the Fashion Institute of Technology. As a fashionista, she delighted in many forms of art and jewelry. Over decades, Marian embraced ongoing development of her wide visual vocabulary. In addition to exploring museums and shops in 60 countries, she trained in art, art history, jewelry design, craft methods, and textile design.
Marian intentionally curated the materials, the design, and the colors. She skillfully blended elements, with juxtaposition and humor for impact. Bold statement pieces feature both high-impact visuals and subtle attention to detail. The results bring light to the wearer and their environment.
Pieces feature symbolic motifs, organically sculpted decorations, and skilled use of palettes and textures. These reflect Marian’s expertise in painting, design, and art history. Layered beads evoke dynamic brush strokes with subtle spacing patterns. Visual rhythms incorporate varied beads and findings.
Materials include silver, gold, stones, porcelain, crystals, lucite, glass, and vintage beads. Semi-precious elements range from luminous pearls to vibrant turquoise, elegant onyx, and mystic amethyst. These eclectic materials were sourced from NY importers as well as from her travels. Sometimes Marian made all the components, while for other pieces she mixed and matched items completed by others.
